Where should I start when it comes to trading and investing in the stock market?
This is a question I get asked ALL. THE. TIME.
Honestly, I love being asked this question. It means you want to get it right. Most people go about trading and investing completely backwards. They invest first then ask questions. That's like buying a car then asking how it works and what all it comes with. Who does that!?!
Today, I'm going to tell you the no BS place you should start BEFORE you start. I've also included some worksheets to help you plan so be sure to grab those at the end of this post.
Know your WHY and set goals
You have to start with your WHY. Why do you want to trade or invest in the stock market? To make money is an obvious reason. But what do you want to achieve with that money?
Pay off debt?
Create a monthly income?
Build a retirement?
All of the above?
Knowing what you want to achieve will help you create steps towards those goals and helps you stay focused.
Pick your stocks
Start by looking at the products you use and the places you go to often. Is Targèt your go to place when you need something? Do you eat at Chipotle for breakfast, lunch and dinner?
Wait.. they don't serve breakfast do they? Well, you get the point.
Who makes the car you drive? Who makes the shampoo you use?
You visit these places and buy these products often. You see first hand if they are expanding and opening new locations. You know if the packaging for your go to products has changed or if they're releasing new products. You know if their customer service is great. Your first hand knowledge with the company and its products will help make you a better trader or investor.
